Appointments

Appointments may be made with the doctor or nurse by telephoning 01689 826664 or by calling at Ballater during surgery hours. Doctors appointments are for 10 minute duration.

If you call or visit the practice between 8am and 6:30pm, requiring urgent care or advice, you will receive a clinical response on the day.

Patients will normally be able to see a doctor within 48 hours for routine appointments.   If you wish to see a specific doctor you may have to wait a little longer.

All appointments can be booked a month in advance.

Help us to help you. NHS resources are precious and it is in everyone’s interest to use them in a responsible manner.

Please:

• Treat all team members with respect and courtesy at all times.
• Keep your appointments and always tell us if you wish to cancel or change. Notice helps, but even knowing at the last minute when a genuine problem prevents you from coming can help us fit someone else in.
• Reduce delays by remembering appointments are for one person only.
• Only use the ‘out of hours’ emergency service in a genuine emergency. Telephone No. 111

Patients not seen within 3 years aged between 16 and 75 years will be offered a consultation on request at the surgery.

Patients aged 75 years and over who have not had a consultation in the past 12 months, will be offered a consultation on request, this may be at the surgery or in the patients home.

When you want to see the dentist

You do not have to be a patient with the practice to register with our dentist.

Standard charges will be applied and you may request an estimate before any treatment.

To make an appointment please contact the practice dental nurse during surgery hours (Monday – Friday).

Home Visits

Whenever possible please attend the surgery as this saves valuable time. Patients who think they may require a home visit should telephone if possible before 10am.

The receptionist will need your (the patient’s) full name, address and telephone no. You may be advised that a doctor will telephone you to discuss your need for a home visit.

It is quite safe to bring children with high temperatures to the surgery by car; they will be seen more quickly and, if infectious, in a separate room. If at all possible, please try to come to the surgery where full medical facilities are available.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.

Telephone Advice

If you wish to speak to a doctor or nurse for advice, please phone between 8 and 9am.

You may be asked to leave your telephone number and the doctor or nurse will call you back when they are available.

A Triage system is in place in the morning clinics.   If you need to speak or see a GP on the day, you will be telephoned back in the morning by a GP who will assess and make a decision on further management ie GP clinic appointment, prescription or home visit.
